The Macra Club of the Year and Best New Member awards will be decided at the Macra Annual Conference / Rally on Sunday 27th October; with National Broadband Ireland sponsoring the competitions for a fourth year in a row.
Twelve clubs are already through to the final of Club of the Year, where they will be assessed on their involvement in their local community, member engagement strategies, as well as the range of social and sporting activities offered to members.
In addition, twelve Macra members are through to the final of the Best New Member competition, who will be judged on their individual input into the development of their club, their personal development over the last year, and also their involvement in the community development aspects of their club’s activities.
The 2024 winners of the NBI sponsored awards will be crowed at the Rally banquet which also celebrates the 80th anniversary of the organisation. In addition, there will be prizes for Regional Winners and Best Emerging Winner. An award for Best New Member will also be presented to a Macra member from each region: Leinster, Munster, and the Northwest.
Niall Beirne, Head of Corporate Communications at National Broadband Ireland, commented: “NBI are excited to continue our long-running partnership with Macra by again sponsoring their Club of the Year, as well as Best New Member awards for 2024. The competitions are a great platform to understand how clubs and individual members are using connectivity and technology to impact their local communities. As NBI’s rollout progresses and consumers take up service in unprecedented numbers, Ireland is fast becoming the most connected country in Europe, so it’s important that we all take advantage of the opportunities its brings.”
Macra National President, Elaine Houlihan, said “The Club of the Year and Best New Member Awards highlight and recognise our members’ commitment to their clubs and wider communities. Macra is delighted to have sponsorship from NBI for this prestigious competition and I look forward to seeing who will be crowned the 2024 Club of the Year.”
