National Broadband Ireland is continuing its sponsorship of Macra’s Club of the Year competition for the third consecutive year.
The Club of the Year competition is designed to encourage clubs to be dynamic and active, rewarding their achievements and contributions at both a local and national level. The long standing award is held annually on the October bank holiday weekend at the Macra na Feirme Rally, which is taking place this year in the Shearwater Hotel, Ballinasloe, Co. Galway and hosted by Galway and Roscommon Macra.
“Macra is delighted to have NBI continue their sponsorship for one of our most prestigious awards for clubs throughout Ireland. These awards highlight and recognise our members’ commitment to their clubs and wider communities ” said Macra National President Elaine Houlihan.
Niall Beirne, Head of Internal Communications and Strategic Partnerships at National Broadband Ireland, commented: “Our partnership with Macra continues to be a great fit, given that Macra’s programmes and activities encourage young people to play an active role in their local community. As NBI continues to deliver Ireland’s new high-speed Fibre-to-the-Home network under the National Broadband Plan, the digital connectivity we provide is a key enabler for the sustainability of local farms, businesses and communities; and helps make rural Ireland an attractive place to live and work.”
This year’s Club of the Year awards will feature categories for Regional Winner (3 in total), Overall Winner and Best Emerging Club. As part of the Club of the Year Competition, an award for Best New Macra Member is presented to an individual Macra member, who joined the organisation between March 1, 2022 and February 28, 2023, and who is deemed by his/her club to have made a significant contribution to the development of the club during his or her first year of membership.
