National Broadband Ireland (NBI) and Sligo-based broadband provider, Fastcom, have welcomed the latest business to join the high speed fibre network being rolled out under the National Broadband Plan (NBP). Over 3,000 homes, farms and business across Sligo are ready to connect now to gain minimum speeds of 500 megabits per second, like Connolly Motor Group in Carraroe.

Peter Hendrick, Chief Executive Officer, National Broadband Ireland, said: “The NBI rollout has gathered real pace and over 160,000 premises across the country can now order NBI high speed fibre through one of our 62 retail partners, like Fastcom in Sligo.

“In Sligo, over 20% of the rollout is complete with almost 3,000 premises now ready to connect. Ultimately the NBP will see an overall investment of €59 million in the county and serve a total of 15,000 premises.

“The significant progress we are making means that more and more customers are experiencing the transformational power of minimum speeds of 500 megabits per second whether you are a family needing to work, study and access entertainment online all at the same time, or a business owner wanting to expand.

“I encourage County Sligo residents to visit nbi.ie and check their Eircode to find out if they are ready to connect and sign up for updates.”

Lorraine Gribbons, Managing Director of Fastcom, the Sligo-based broadband provider, said:

“We are thrilled to deliver this latest connection, in conjunction with NBI, to Connolly Motor Group, Sligo. This highlights our commitment to delivering exceptional broadband services to our customer base, not only here in Sligo, but all over the country through our continued partnership with NBI.

“Connectivity to the NBI network opens up a world of possibilities for Connolly Motor Group and businesses throughout the country. They can now tap into the full potential of high-speed fibre to the premises’ connectivity, revolutionising their operations, increasing productivity, and seizing new growth opportunities. Fastcom is proud to be part of this transformative journey, delivering high-speed broadband connections that empower businesses to thrive in the digital age.”

Marcus Jackson, Connolly Motor Group, Carraroe Sligo General Manager, said:

“Connolly Motor Group are delighted to now be connected to NBI broadband through Fastcom. Like businesses all over Ireland, we are heavily reliant on broadband and the fast connection is crucial for daily operations of the business. High-speed fibre broadband has become extremely efficient, especially in this digital age, in the day-to-day running of the company, and most importantly, it’s crucial our customers can experience a fast connection. We understand the importance of being able to connect with our customers both in the dealership, through online payments and booking their vehicle in for a service. We look forward to utilising the new high speed fibre broadband from NBI for our family business.”
