Series of speakers marks colleague and community engagement programme launch, and collaboration with Dublin Pride
National Broadband Ireland (NBI), the company rolling out the new high-speed fibre broadband network under the Government’s National Broadband Plan, has announced the launch of its colleague and community engagement programme, NBI Connected.
Making the announcement, NBI CEO, Peter Hendrick stated, “NBI Connected is designed to engage our colleagues in areas which are key for personal and professional development. The programme of activities will bring even more meaning and relevance to the work we are doing at National Broadband Ireland to connect communities in every county in Ireland.”
Mr. Hendrick added, “We want the programme’s activities to have a good balance of workplace wellness, awareness, education – so today, being World Mental Health Day, was a very fitting day to mark the launch. I’m also particularly delighted that we were able to hear from a number of distinct perspectives which enabled really positive engagement at the event.”
The event included a programme of speakers, including Christelle Gebhardt from Dublin Pride
who commented on NBI’s introduction of Pride at Work training, “We’re delighte
d to be rolling out our Pride at Work training programme at NBI. Education is an important part of LGBTQ+ allyship, and we appreciate NBI’s commitment to continuous learning when it comes to creating an inclusive and safe workplace for their LGBTQ+ employees.”
The NBI event also heard from author and life-change strategist Brian Pennie, as well as Bernard Brogan, Co-founder of team experience platform, PepTalk, who stated, “It’s a really positive step that NBI were able to formally launch their colleague engagement programme on World Mental Health Day. It was a great platform to shine a spotlight on how employers can help raise awareness and support their teams by resourcing mental health and wellness activities.”
Corina Zambra, NBI’s Senior Manager for People and Culture, commented, “Internally, we’ve already done some great things in NBI, so our new colleague engagement programme is going to build on that and enhance what we’re doing so far. We’re concentrating on a specific number of areas – such as Diversity & Inclusion, ESG, and Wellness, so today marks the start of a meaningful series of events that will ensure colleagues feel connected as a community, reflecting the work NBI is doing to connect communities right across the country.” The launch event, on the 10th October, coincided with World Mental Health Day (WMHD), a day for global mental health education, awareness and advocacy.
